Ingredients
Scale
Ingredients
- 18 ounces white almond bark
- 5 ounces chow mein noodles (or approximately 3 cups, such as La Choy brand)
- ¾ cup roasted and salted peanuts
- 4 tablespoons colorful nonpareils
Instructions
- Melt the Almond Bark: Add the white almond bark to a large heat-safe mixing bowl. Heat in the microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring well after each interval until the almond bark is completely melted and smooth, ensuring no lumps remain.
- Prepare Baking Sheet: Line a baking sheet with waxed paper and set it aside to catch the formed haystacks and allow them to harden properly.
- Combine Ingredients: Stir the chow mein noodles and roasted salted peanuts into the melted white almond bark. Continue stirring until all the noodles and peanuts are thoroughly coated with the melted chocolate mixture.
- Form Haystacks and Decorate: Using a tablespoon measure, drop 2-tablespoon portions of the coated mixture onto the prepared baking sheet. While still soft, sprinkle about ½ teaspoon of colorful nonpareils over each haystack to add a festive, crunchy decoration.
- Set and Serve: Allow the haystacks to cool and harden completely at room temperature until firm. Once set, they are ready to be enjoyed or stored for later serving.
Notes
- You can substitute the chow mein noodles with any similar crispy noodle or crunchy cereal if preferred.
- To speed up hardening, you can place the baking sheet in the refrigerator for about 15-20 minutes.
- Store the haystacks in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week.
- For a nut-free version, omit the peanuts or replace them with seeds like pumpkin or sunflower seeds.
