  • Author: Elara
  • Total Time: 27 minutes
  • Yield: 24-26 cookie cups 1x

Description

These Valentine’s Day Cookie Cups are delightful treats perfect for celebrating the holiday with loved ones. Made with a sugar cookie base and filled with Hershey’s hugs chocolates, these adorable bite-sized cups are baked to a golden perfection and topped with festive sprinkles for a sweet and charming dessert.

Ingredients

Scale

Cookie Dough

  • 17.5 ounce package sugar cookie mix
  • ½ cup (1 stick) salted butter, melted
  • 3 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1 large egg, room temperature
  • Pink or red food coloring, as desired

Filling and Topping

  • 2426 Hershey’s hugs, unwrapped
  • Decorative sprinkles (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Pan and Oven: Spray a mini cupcake pan generously with cooking spray to prevent sticking. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit to ensure it reaches the perfect baking temperature.
  2. Mix Cookie Dough: In a large mixing bowl, combine the sugar cookie mix, melted salted butter, all-purpose flour, egg, and desired amount of pink or red food coloring. Beat the mixture until just combined to form a smooth dough with a festive tint.
  3. Shape Dough: Take approximately 1 tablespoon of the cookie dough and flatten it using your hand or a rolling pin to roughly the size of your palm, creating a flat circle ready to envelop the chocolate.
  4. Enclose Chocolate: Place one unwrapped Hershey’s hug in the center of the flattened dough, then carefully wrap and pinch the dough around the chocolate to form a smooth ball, completely encasing the chocolate inside.
  5. Fill Muffin Pan: Place each dough ball upright into a cavity of the prepared mini cupcake pan. Repeat this process with the remaining dough and chocolates until the pan is filled.
  6. Bake: Bake the cookie cups in the preheated oven for 10 to 12 minutes or until the outside of the dough looks set, indicating they are baked through.
  7. Add Toppings: Remove the baked cookie cups from the oven and immediately sprinkle decorative sprinkles on top while still warm, allowing them to adhere.
  8. Cool and Serve: Allow the cookie cups to cool in the pan for about 15 minutes to set completely before serving. Enjoy these festive treats once cooled.

Notes

  • Using room temperature egg helps the dough mix evenly and improves texture.
  • Adjust the amount of food coloring to achieve your preferred shade of pink or red.
  • Ensure the mini cupcake pan is well-greased to easily remove cookie cups after baking.
  • Decorative sprinkles are optional but add a festive touch perfect for Valentine’s Day.
  • Store leftover cookie cups in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
