Ingredients
Scale
Fruits
- 5–6 Strawberries, chopped
- 1 Banana, mashed
Dry Ingredients
- 1 cup Oat Flour
- ½ cup Old-fashioned Oats
Wet Ingredients
- ⅓ cup Unsweetened Peanut Butter
- Water, as needed
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F to ensure it’s at the right temperature when your treats are ready to bake.
- Prepare Strawberries: Cut the strawberries into small pieces and set them aside for later use in the dough and as a garnish.
- Mash Banana: In a medium bowl, mash the banana thoroughly until smooth to help bind the ingredients.
- Add Peanut Butter: Stir the unsweetened peanut butter into the mashed banana until fully combined, creating a creamy mixture.
- Mix Dry Ingredients: Add the oat flour and old-fashioned oats to the wet mixture and mix well until the dough starts to come together.
- Add Water: Gradually add water as needed to achieve a dough consistency that is easy to mold or roll out without being sticky.
- Mold the Dough: If using a silicone mold, place it on a baking sheet. Press the dough into the mold cavities, then press a few strawberry pieces into each treat for added flavor and texture.
- Roll and Cut Dough: If not using molds, add a little more flour if necessary to make the dough rollable. Incorporate the chopped strawberries evenly into the dough. Roll it out to about ¼ to ½ inch thickness. Use cookie cutters to cut into shapes and place on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Bake Treats: Bake in the preheated oven for 20 to 25 minutes until the treats are set and lightly golden.
- Cool the Treats: Remove from the oven and carefully take the treats out of the mold or off the baking sheet, then place them on a wire rack to cool to room temperature before giving them to your dog.
Notes
- Make sure peanut butter is unsweetened and contains no xylitol, which is toxic to dogs.
- Adjust the amount of water to get the right dough consistency for molding or rolling.
- Store the treats in an airtight container for up to one week, or freeze for longer storage.
- Always supervise your dog while trying new treats to watch for any allergic reactions.
