Strawberry Dog Treats Recipe

  • Author: Elara
  • Total Time: 40 minutes
  • Yield: About 20-25 small dog treats 1x
  • Diet: Gluten Free

Description

These homemade Strawberry Dog Treats are a healthy and delicious snack for your furry friend, made with natural ingredients like fresh strawberries, banana, and peanut butter. Perfectly baked to a chewy texture, they are easy to prepare and free from any artificial additives, making them a nutritious treat your dog will love.

Ingredients

Scale

Fruits

  • 56 Strawberries, chopped
  • 1 Banana, mashed

Dry Ingredients

  • 1 cup Oat Flour
  • ½ cup Old-fashioned Oats

Wet Ingredients

  • ⅓ cup Unsweetened Peanut Butter
  • Water, as needed

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F to ensure it’s at the right temperature when your treats are ready to bake.
  2. Prepare Strawberries: Cut the strawberries into small pieces and set them aside for later use in the dough and as a garnish.
  3. Mash Banana: In a medium bowl, mash the banana thoroughly until smooth to help bind the ingredients.
  4. Add Peanut Butter: Stir the unsweetened peanut butter into the mashed banana until fully combined, creating a creamy mixture.
  5. Mix Dry Ingredients: Add the oat flour and old-fashioned oats to the wet mixture and mix well until the dough starts to come together.
  6. Add Water: Gradually add water as needed to achieve a dough consistency that is easy to mold or roll out without being sticky.
  7. Mold the Dough: If using a silicone mold, place it on a baking sheet. Press the dough into the mold cavities, then press a few strawberry pieces into each treat for added flavor and texture.
  8. Roll and Cut Dough: If not using molds, add a little more flour if necessary to make the dough rollable. Incorporate the chopped strawberries evenly into the dough. Roll it out to about ¼ to ½ inch thickness. Use cookie cutters to cut into shapes and place on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  9. Bake Treats: Bake in the preheated oven for 20 to 25 minutes until the treats are set and lightly golden.
  10. Cool the Treats: Remove from the oven and carefully take the treats out of the mold or off the baking sheet, then place them on a wire rack to cool to room temperature before giving them to your dog.

Notes

  • Make sure peanut butter is unsweetened and contains no xylitol, which is toxic to dogs.
  • Adjust the amount of water to get the right dough consistency for molding or rolling.
  • Store the treats in an airtight container for up to one week, or freeze for longer storage.
  • Always supervise your dog while trying new treats to watch for any allergic reactions.
