Ingredients
Scale
Chocolate Base and Topping
- 3 ½ cups (637 g) milk chocolate chips, divided
Peanut Butter Layer
- 1 cup (258 g) creamy peanut butter
- 1 cup (125 g) confectioners’ sugar
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
Topping
- 1 cup (188 g) Reese’s Pieces Candy
Instructions
- Prepare the Pan: Line a 10×15-inch baking pan with wax paper and set aside to facilitate easy removal and cleanup.
- Melt First Portion of Chocolate: Place 1 ½ cups of chocolate chips into a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave in 20-second increments, stirring thoroughly after each to ensure smooth, even melting without burning.
- Spread Chocolate Base: Pour and spread the melted chocolate evenly over the wax paper in the baking pan, leaving a small border around the edges. Refrigerate for about 10 minutes until the chocolate sets.
- Combine Peanut Butter Mixture: In a medium bowl, blend together creamy peanut butter, confectioners’ sugar, and softened butter using a hand mixer on medium speed until the mixture is smooth and homogeneous.
- Layer Peanut Butter Over Chocolate: Evenly spread the peanut butter mixture over the chilled, set chocolate layer. Return the pan to the refrigerator and chill for 5-10 minutes until firm.
- Melt Remaining Chocolate: In a separate microwave-safe bowl, melt the remaining 2 cups of chocolate chips using the same 20-second increments and stirring method as before to achieve a smooth texture.
- Top with Chocolate and Candy: Spread the freshly melted chocolate evenly over the peanut butter layer. While the chocolate is still soft, sprinkle Reese’s Pieces candy evenly across the top, gently pressing them to adhere well.
- Final Chill and Set: Refrigerate the completed bark for about 10 minutes or until the top chocolate layer is fully set and firm.
- Break and Store: Once fully chilled and firm, remove the bark from the pan by lifting the wax paper. Break into pieces of desired size. Store the bark pieces in an airtight container to maintain freshness.
Notes
- Use high-quality milk chocolate chips for a smoother, richer bark.
- Make sure the peanut butter mixture is well blended for an even texture.
- Press the Reese’s Pieces gently to avoid embedding them too deep so their shape stays visible.
- Store the bark in a cool place or refrigerator to prevent melting, especially in warmer climates.
- For a nut-free version, substitute peanut butter with sunflower seed butter and omit Reese’s Pieces or replace with allergen-friendly candy.
