- Combine garlic and herbs: In a small bowl, mix 3 teaspoons of minced garlic with 1 teaspoon dried basil, 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano, 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes, and 1/4 teaspoon paprika.
- Heat the olive oil: Warm 1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil in a small saucepan over medium heat for about 3 to 4 minutes until hot but not smoking.
- Pour hot oil over herbs: Remove the olive oil from heat and carefully pour it over the garlic and herb mixture to release the oils and aromas. Allow the mixture to cool for 5 minutes.
- Season and add vinegar: Add 1/4 teaspoon coarse salt and 1/4 teaspoon freshly cracked black pepper to the mixture. Drizzle 2 tablespoons of balsamic vinegar on top and stir gently.
- Infuse flavors: Let the dip sit for 30 to 60 minutes at room temperature so the flavors can meld and infuse into the olive oil. Serve alongside crusty bread for dipping.
