  • 3 cups bread flour or all-purpose flour

For Brushing:

  • 3 Tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon Italian seasoning

Instructions

  1. Prepare Dough: In the bowl of an electric stand mixer fitted with the dough hook, combine warm water, instant yeast, granulated sugar, melted butter, and kosher salt. On low speed, gradually add the flour. Increase speed to medium and knead the dough for about 7 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
  2. First Rise: Transfer the dough to a lightly oiled bowl, cover it with a dry towel, and let it rise in a warm spot until doubled in size, approximately 1 1/2 hours.
  3. Shape Breadsticks: Punch down the dough and divide it into 12 equal portions. Roll each piece into a 7-inch long log. Place the logs on a nonstick baking mat or parchment-lined baking sheet. Cover and let them rise again until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
  4. Preheat Oven and Bake: Preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit (200 degrees Celsius). Bake the breadsticks for about 12 minutes or until they turn golden brown.
  5. Prepare Garlic Butter and Brush: While the breadsticks bake, mix melted butter with kosher salt, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning in a small bowl. Once the breadsticks are out of the oven, immediately brush the tops generously with the garlic butter mixture.
  6. Serve Warm: Serve the breadsticks warm and enjoy their soft, fluffy texture and the savory garlic butter flavor.
