Fire Crackers Recipe

  • Author: Elara
  • Total Time: 8 hours 25 minutes (including resting time)
  • Yield: About 6 cups seasoned crackers 1x
  • Diet: Vegetarian

Description

Fire Crackers are a spicy, savory snack made by coating saltine crackers in a flavorful blend of olive oil, ranch seasoning, Italian herbs, and red pepper flakes. After marinating for several hours to absorb the bold flavors, they can be enjoyed as-is or lightly baked to enhance their crispiness. Perfect for parties, game days, or a zesty snack at any time.

Ingredients

Scale

Seasoning Mix

  • 2 ½ tablespoons ranch seasoning (or 1 packet)
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 2 tablespoons red pepper flakes

Main Ingredients

  • 1 cup olive oil (or avocado oil)
  • 16 ounces saltine crackers

Instructions

  1. Mix the Seasonings: Combine 1 cup olive oil, 2 ½ tablespoons ranch seasoning, 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning, and 2 tablespoons red pepper flakes inside a gallon-sized resealable plastic bag. Seal the bag tightly and shake or massage it to mix all the ingredients thoroughly.
  2. Add Crackers: Add 16 ounces of saltine crackers to the bag. Seal it again and shake the bag vigorously, flipping it from back to front multiple times to ensure every cracker is evenly coated with the seasoned oil mixture.
  3. Let It Rest: Allow the crackers to marinate in the bag for at least 8 hours, periodically flipping and shaking the bag to redistribute the oil evenly and prevent settling. This resting period lets the crackers absorb the spicy, savory flavors fully.
  4. Serve: You can enjoy the crackers straight from the bag as a flavorful snack. Alternatively, for a crispier texture, spread the coated crackers in a single layer on parchment-lined baking sheets and bake at 250°F (120°C) for 10-15 minutes. Allow to cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • For a less spicy version, reduce the amount of red pepper flakes.
  • Using avocado oil is a great alternative if you want a higher smoke point oil.
  • Baking the crackers after marinating will make them crunchier and enhance the flavor.
  • Make sure the bag is sealed tightly before shaking to avoid spills.
  • Store any leftovers in an airtight container to maintain freshness.
