Combining the natural sweetness of organic Gala apples simmered with aromatic spices and the robust flavor of black tea infused in creamy almond milk, this latte offers a perfect balance of fruity warmth and spicy chai. Sweetened gently with agave and topped optionally with CocoWhip, this comforting drink is perfect for chilly days or anytime you crave a soothing and flavorful treat.

Ingredients

Scale

Apple Cider Base

  • 4 organic Gala apples, peeled and sliced
  • 4 cups fresh water
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 1 tsp whole cloves
  • 1/2 tsp ground allspice

Chai Latte Mixture

  • 2 cups almond milk (preferably Califia Farms or your favorite plant-based milk)
  • 23 black tea bags
  • 2 tbsp agave syrup (adjust to taste)
  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract

Chai Spice Mix

  • 2 tbsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1 tsp ground ginger
  • 1 tsp allspice
  • 1 tsp cardamom
  • 1/2 tsp ground cloves
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper

Instructions

  1. Make the Apple Cider Base: Add the peeled and sliced apples, cinnamon sticks, ground allspice, and whole cloves to a medium saucepan. Pour in the water but leave about an inch of space at the top to prevent boiling over. Simmer the mixture over medium-high heat for 15-20 minutes, until the apples are fully softened and the aroma of spices fills the kitchen.
  2. Strain the Apple Cider: Once cooked, remove the saucepan from heat. Using a large spoon, carefully scoop portions of the mixture into a fine strainer set over a large bowl. Press and squeeze the softened apples to extract as much juice as possible. Discard the solids including apple pieces, cinnamon sticks, and cloves. Set the strained apple cider juice aside.
  3. Prepare the Chai Tea: In a clean medium saucepan, bring the almond milk to a gentle boil over medium-high heat, allowing it to heat for 1-2 minutes. Remove from heat, add the black tea bags, and steep for 5-6 minutes until the tea is strong and flavorful.
  4. Flavor the Chai Latte: Remove the tea bags and whisk into the hot milk 1 tablespoon of the prepared chai spice mix, 1/2 cup of the fresh apple cider, vanilla extract, and agave syrup until fully combined and smooth.
  5. Combine and Serve: Pour the apple chai latte into prepared mugs. Optionally, top with CocoWhip and sprinkle additional chai spice mix over the top for an extra touch of flavor and presentation.
  6. Enjoy: Sip the warm, comforting apple chai latte slowly to savor the balance of fruity sweetness and spicy chai warmth.

Notes

  • Adjust the amount of agave syrup based on your preferred sweetness level.
  • You can substitute almond milk with any plant-based milk such as oat, soy, or cashew milk.
  • CocoWhip is optional but adds a lovely creamy, coconut whipped topping to enhance the latte.
  • For a stronger chai flavor, you can increase the chai spice mix amount in the latte.
  • If you prefer a less spicy version, reduce the black pepper and cloves in the chai spice mix.
  • This recipe is naturally gluten-free and vegan-friendly.
