Ingredients
Scale
Main Ingredients
- 1 bag Starlight Peppermint Candy
- 1 bag Wilton Candy Melts
- Holiday Sprinkles
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 300 degrees Fahrenheit to prepare for melting the peppermint candies in the molds.
- Crush Peppermints: Place the Starlight Peppermint candies in a ziplock bag and crush them into small pieces using a kitchen mallet or similar tool. This helps the candy melt evenly and fit well into the mold.
- Fill Spoon Mold: Using a teaspoon, fill the spoon mold with the crushed peppermint, making sure to pack extra candy into the top of the spoon and the neck area where the spoon handle meets the bowl. These areas are prone to breaking if not filled well.
- Melt Peppermint: Place the filled mold in the oven and melt completely, watching closely. This typically takes about 10 minutes. After about 8 minutes, check the candies and add more crushed peppermint in any thin spots, then return to the oven for a few more minutes to finish melting.
- Cool and Remove: Remove the mold from the oven and let it cool completely. Once cooled, carefully separate the sides of the mold to remove the peppermint spoons. If any break, you can add more crushed peppermint to the broken area and melt again to repair.
- Optional Decoration: Melt the Wilton Candy Melts according to package instructions. Dip the handle or end of each peppermint spoon into the melted chocolate, and then immediately dip into holiday sprinkles. Place on wax paper and allow to dry completely before serving or gift wrapping.
Notes
- Use a low oven temperature (around 300°F) to avoid burning the peppermint candies.
- Crushing the candies finely helps them melt more evenly and fill the mold better.
- If spoons break during removal, simply re-melt with extra crushed peppermint to repair.
- Decorating with melted candy melts adds a festive touch but is optional.
- Use wax paper or parchment paper to prevent sticking while the spoons dry.
