  • Author: Elara
  • Total Time: 25 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Description

This Creamy Garlic Shrimp recipe delivers tender jumbo shrimp sautéed to perfection in a rich and flavorful garlic cream sauce with a hint of white wine and Italian seasoning. Perfectly topped with shredded white cheddar cheese and fresh parsley, it’s an indulgent dish that pairs beautifully with pasta, rice, or mashed potatoes for an easy yet elegant meal.

Ingredients

Scale

Shrimp

  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 2 pounds jumbo shrimp, peeled, deveined, and tails removed
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper

Sauce

  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 tablespoon garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons white wine
  • 1 1/2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 cup white cheddar cheese, shredded (or grated Parmesan cheese)
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, finely chopped

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Shrimp: Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat until sizzling hot, about 2 minutes. Add the shrimp and sear for 2-3 minutes on each side until they turn pink and are cooked through. Season with salt and pepper. Remove shrimp from skillet and set aside on a plate.
  2. Make the Garlic Butter Sauce: In the same skillet, add butter and minced garlic. Sauté for about one minute until fragrant. Stir in white wine and cook for an additional minute to combine and reduce slightly.
  3. Create the Cream Sauce: Add heavy cream, Italian seasoning, and shredded white cheddar cheese to the skillet. Stir well and bring the sauce to a gentle simmer. Reduce heat to medium and continue stirring until the sauce thickens to your desired consistency.
  4. Combine Shrimp and Sauce: Return the cooked shrimp to the skillet. Toss them gently to coat thoroughly with the creamy garlic sauce.
  5. Garnish and Serve: Sprinkle fresh chopped parsley over the shrimp. Serve immediately alongside pasta, rice, or mashed potatoes for a complete meal.

Notes

  • You can substitute white cheddar cheese with grated Parmesan for a sharper flavor.
  • For a lighter version, use half-and-half instead of heavy cream, but the sauce will be less rich.
  • Ensure not to overcook the shrimp to maintain their tenderness.
  • If you prefer, deglaze the skillet with a splash of chicken broth instead of white wine for an alcohol-free version.
  • Serve with crusty bread to soak up the delicious sauce.
