Dip Ingredients
- 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 3 green onions, sliced
- 12 ounces canned crab meat, drained
- ¼ cup mayonnaise
- ¼ cup sour cream
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 2 teaspoons soy sauce
- 2 teaspoons lemon juice
- ¼ cup fresh Parmesan cheese
- 1 cup shredded Colby-Monterey Jack cheese
- ½ cup shredded Colby-Monterey Jack cheese (optional, for topping)
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon pepper
- ¼ cup sweet chili sauce
Wonton Chips
- 1 package wonton wrappers
- Olive oil or cooking spray
- Salt, to taste
Instructions
- Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F to prepare for baking the dip and wonton chips.
- Prepare the crab dip mixture: In a medium bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, sliced green onions, and drained crab meat. Add mayonnaise and sour cream, mixing well until smooth.
- Add seasonings and cheeses: Incorporate Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, lemon juice, Parmesan cheese, 1 cup of shredded Colby-Monterey Jack cheese, salt, and pepper. Use a hand mixer to combine thoroughly until the mixture is smooth and fluffy.
- Bake the crab dip: Spread the creamy mixture evenly in an 8×8 inch baking pan. If desired, sprinkle with the additional ½ cup of shredded cheese on top. Bake in the preheated oven for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the dip is hot and bubbly.
- Prepare the wonton wrappers: While the dip is baking, open the package of wonton wrappers. Cut each wrapper in half diagonally to create two triangles.
- Bake the wonton chips: Arrange the wonton triangles in a single layer on a baking sheet. Lightly spritz or brush each triangle with olive oil or cooking spray, then sprinkle with salt. Bake in the oven for 4 to 5 minutes until the edges are crispy and browned but the centers remain mostly white. Watch carefully to avoid burning.
- Finish and serve: Once the dip is out of the oven, drizzle the sweet chili sauce over the top. Garnish with chopped green onions or parsley if desired. Serve warm with the crispy baked wonton chips for dipping.
Notes
- Baking the wonton wrappers instead of frying results in a healthier, crispy chip alternative.
- If you prefer spicier dip, add a dash of cayenne pepper or hot sauce into the dip mixture.
- The dip can be prepared in advance and baked just before serving to save time.
- For extra richness, substitute some mayonnaise with additional sour cream or cream cheese.
- Use fresh crab meat if available for superior flavor, or substitute with imitation crab if desired.
