Cheese Ball Base
- 16 ounces cream cheese (2 (8-ounce) packages), softened to room temperature (full fat)
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- ½ teaspoon ground black pepper
- ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
- ¼ teaspoon onion powder
- 5 ounces dried beef (2 (2.5-ounce) packages), finely diced
- 4 green onions, tops finely diced
- 1 ½ cups sharp white cheddar cheese, shredded
Instructions
- Prepare the cream cheese mixture: Add the softened cream cheese to a large bowl. Add Worcestershire sauce, ground black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Using an electric mixer, blend all ingredients until smooth and well combined.
- Add diced beef, green onions, and cheese: Stir in ¾ of the finely diced dried beef, ¾ of the finely diced green onions, and ¾ of the shredded sharp white cheddar cheese into the cream cheese mixture until evenly combined.
- Shape the cheese ball: Lay a large sheet of plastic wrap on your counter. Spoon the cheese mixture onto the plastic wrap. Wrap the plastic all around and under the cheese mixture, molding it with your hands into a smooth, firm ball.
- Chill to set: Refrigerate the cheese ball for at least two hours to firm it up and allow the flavors to meld.
- Prepare the coating: In a medium plate, combine the remaining finely diced dried beef and shredded sharp cheddar cheese, mixing them together.
- Coat the cheese ball: Remove the cheese ball from the refrigerator and unwrap it from the plastic. Place it on the plate with the beef and cheese mixture. Press the mixture onto the entire surface of the cheese ball to coat it evenly.
- Add finishing touches: Sprinkle the remaining finely diced green onions on top of the coated cheese ball for a burst of color and flavor.
- Serve: Place the cheese ball in the center of a serving dish and arrange crackers around it for dipping and spreading.
