Caramel Apple Nachos are a delightful and easy-to-make dessert featuring crisp granny smith and gala apples topped with a rich homemade caramel sauce, melted white chocolate, crunchy crushed pretzels, and sweet Heath bar pieces. This fun and colorful treat is perfect for parties, gatherings, or a special snack that combines tart apples with indulgent toppings for a perfect balance of flavors and textures.

Ingredients

Scale

Apples

  • 23 Granny Smith apples, cored and sliced
  • 23 Gala apples, cored and sliced

Caramel Sauce

  • 4 Tbsp. salted butter
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 6 Tbsp. corn syrup
  • 1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract

Toppings

  • 4 oz. white chocolate
  • 1 Heath bar, broken into pieces
  • 1/2 cup crushed pretzels

Instructions

  1. Prepare Toppings: Crush the pretzels into small pieces and chop the Heath bar into small bits. Place them in separate small bowls for easy sprinkling later.
  2. Wash and Slice Apples: Wash, core, and slice the apples thinly. Place the slices in a large bowl filled with lemon juice and water or Sprite to prevent browning and keep them fresh.
  3. Make Caramel Sauce: In a medium saucepan, melt the salted butter over medium heat. Add the brown sugar, corn syrup, and sweetened condensed milk. Whisk the ingredients continuously and bring to a light bubbly boil. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract. Allow the caramel sauce to cool slightly before using.
  4. Melt White Chocolate: Place white chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl. Heat in the microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until completely melted and smooth.
  5. Drain Apples: Drain the liquid from the apple slices and pat them dry gently. Arrange the slices evenly on a large serving plate.
  6. Drizzle Sauces: Drizzle the homemade caramel sauce and melted white chocolate evenly over the arranged apple slices.
  7. Add Toppings: Sprinkle the crushed pretzels and chopped Heath bar pieces generously over the drizzled apples for added crunch and sweetness.
  8. Optional Serving: Place any extra toppings next to the dish so guests can add more if desired. Serve immediately and enjoy the delicious combination of tart apples and rich toppings.

Notes

  • To prevent apple slices from browning before serving, soak them in lemon juice and water or Sprite.
  • Adjust the amount of caramel and white chocolate drizzles according to taste preference.
  • For a nutty twist, you can add chopped walnuts or pecans as additional toppings.
  • This dessert is best served immediately for optimal freshness and texture.
  • Store any leftovers separately to prevent sogginess of the apples.
