Ingredients
Scale
Bread and Spreads
- 1 baguette, cut into ½ inch slices
- 1 jar Private Selection apple butter (about ½ cup)
Cheese
- 6 ounces brie cheese (such as Murray’s brie), sliced thin
Fruit and Nuts
- 2 large apples, thinly sliced and cored
- Squeeze of fresh lemon juice
- ½ cup candied pecans, chopped
Finishing
- Honey, for drizzling (approximately 2-3 tablespoons)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit to prepare for toasting the crostini.
- Prepare the baguette slices: Spread 1-2 teaspoons of apple butter evenly on one side of each baguette slice. Arrange the slices on a large baking sheet, apple butter side up.
- Add brie cheese: Slice the brie into thin pieces and place one or more slices on top of each apple buttered baguette slice.
- Bake the crostini: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 5-7 minutes, or until the brie is melted and starting to bubble.
- Prepare apple slices: While the crostini are baking, thinly slice the apples, removing the core. Immediately squeeze fresh lemon juice over the apple slices to prevent browning and maintain freshness.
- Assemble the crostini: Remove the crostini from the oven carefully. Top each with a few apple slices, then sprinkle chopped candied pecans evenly over the top.
- Finish with honey: Drizzle honey generously over each crostini for added sweetness and serve immediately while warm and fresh.
Notes
- Use a variety of apples that hold their shape well, such as Granny Smith or Honeycrisp, to add a nice tart contrast to the creamy brie.
- You can substitute candied pecans with toasted walnuts or almonds if preferred.
- For a more intense flavor, try using a flavored apple butter or adding a pinch of cinnamon to the apple slices.
- Serve the crostini immediately after assembling to enjoy the contrast of warm melted brie and crisp apple slices.
