Ingredients
Scale
Cheese Tortellini
- 9 ounces refrigerated cheese tortellini
Seasoning & Coating
- 2 ½ tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- ¾ teaspoon kosher salt
- ½ teaspoon fresh cracked black pepper
- ¾ cup freshly grated parmesan cheese (divided into ½ cup and ¼ cup)
- 1 teaspoon fresh parsley, chopped
Instructions
- Cook Tortellini: Bring a medium saucepan of water to a boil. Add the cheese tortellini and cook for 4 minutes. Drain and rinse with cold water to stop cooking and remove excess starch. Drain thoroughly to ensure seasoning sticks well.
- Coat with Olive Oil: Place the drained tortellini in a medium bowl and drizzle with olive oil. Stir well to coat each piece evenly.
- Add Seasonings: Sprinkle garlic powder, Italian seasoning, kosher salt, black pepper, and ½ cup of the freshly grated parmesan over the tortellini. Stir until every piece is evenly coated with spices and cheese.
- Preheat Air Fryer: Preheat your air fryer to 360°F (182°C) if your model requires preheating. Check your air fryer’s manual for specific instructions.
- Prepare Basket: Spray the air fryer basket with nonstick cooking spray to prevent sticking.
- Arrange Tortellini: Spread the coated tortellini in a single layer in the basket. For smaller air fryers, cook in batches to avoid overcrowding.
- Air Fry: Cook the tortellini for 6 minutes, then shake the basket to toss pieces. Continue air frying for another 5 to 6 minutes until the tortellini turns golden brown and crispy.
- Serve: Transfer the air-fried tortellini to a serving dish. Sprinkle with the remaining ¼ cup of grated parmesan and chopped fresh parsley. Serve immediately.
Notes
- Be sure to drain tortellini very well after cooking to ensure the oil and seasoning adhere properly.
- If your air fryer basket is small, cook tortellini in batches for best crispiness.
- Adjust cooking time slightly depending on your air fryer model for optimum texture.
- Use freshly grated parmesan for best flavor and melting quality.
- This recipe works well with other tortellini fillings like spinach or mushroom if preferred.
