Ingredients
Scale
Bean Layer
- 16 ounce can refried beans
- 1 ounce packet mild taco seasoning
Additional Layers
- 1 cup guacamole (store bought or your favorite recipe)
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1 cup salsa
- 1 cup shredded colby jack cheese
Toppings
- 1 cup tomatoes, diced
- ⅓ cup green onions, sliced
- ⅓ cup sliced olives (optional)
Serving
- Your favorite tortilla chips (for serving)
Instructions
- Prepare the bean mixture: In a medium bowl, combine the refried beans with the mild taco seasoning. If the beans are too stiff to stir, microwave them in a microwave-safe bowl for a few seconds until slightly softened to make mixing easier.
- Layer refried beans: Evenly distribute the seasoned refried bean mixture among six serving cups, creating the base layer for each cup.
- Add guacamole, sour cream, and salsa layers: Carefully spoon an equal amount of guacamole on top of the bean layer in each cup, followed by a layer of sour cream, then a layer of salsa, ensuring even layering for all cups.
- Top with cheese and vegetables: Sprinkle shredded colby jack cheese evenly over the salsa layer, then add diced tomatoes, sliced green onions, and sliced olives (if using) as the final decorative and flavorful toppings.
- Serve with chips: Arrange the 7 Layer Dip Cups on a serving tray alongside your favorite tortilla chips for dipping, and serve immediately.
Notes
- Microwaving the refried beans slightly helps with easier mixing and layering.
- You can customize the level of spiciness by choosing mild or hot taco seasoning based on preference.
- The olives are optional and can be omitted if preferred.
- This recipe can easily be scaled up or down depending on the number of guests.
- Store leftover layered dip in the refrigerator covered; best consumed within 2 days.
